Benjamin Levin (born March 8, 1988), better known as Benny Blanco, is a rapper, songwriter and producer from Reston, Virginia. Blanco has written and produced for artists such as Katy Perry and Britney Spears with Dr. Luke. He has also remixed for Kylie Minogue and Justice. Blanco first gained attention in 2007 after working closely with Spank Rock.
Blanco was initially interested in rapping before he began producing. His first beat was created for a pornography series called Hip Hop Honeys, created by Jonathan Shecter, the cofounder of The Source. Blanco also interned for the late Disco D. Working closely with Spank Rock, Blanco released an EP entitled Bangers and Cash in 2007 which sampled various 2 Live Crew songs. The EP featured guest appearances from Amanda Blank and Santogold. Benny Blanco currently works with Dr. Luke and Matt Squire. He provided additional production for Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot N Cold". After co-producing Britney Spears' "Circus" and 3OH!3's breakthrough single "Don't Trust Me", Blanco received widespread attention.
Blanco will be working on both Spank Rock and Mos Def's next albums, and he has remixed a song for Kid Rock. Lady Sovereign's sophomore album will feature production from Blanco. Along with Dr. Luke and Katy Perry, Blanco is working on a song for Mickey Avalon's next album.
