"Young Swagger” (born Paul Baker) has gained enormous popularity and respect for his craft. This popularity has given him the respect with both local and major recording artists. Gaining over 3,500 friends on MySpace and over 14,000 hits on YouTube within three (6) months “Young Swagger” had set an unprecedented movement. Short days and long nights were dedicated to his love for music growing up in Southeast Washington, D.C. in the Southern Avenue area. Paul Baker, “Young Swagger” graduated from Bowie High School in 2004 when his family moved into Prince George’s County. After years and years of practice, a craft that seems so simple to display, has only come easy, after hard work and dedication. With opportunities to perform as the opening artists for Young Jock, Erykah Badu, Trey Songz, Young Berg, Day 26, and Rick Ross. “Young Swagger” has created the perfect formula at becoming the world’s greatest emcee. “Young Swagger” has also performed at Bowie State Homecoming in 2007 and 2008, several open mics throughout the Washington Metropolitan Region and was nominated to open up for TI and T-Pain’s concert hosted by WPGC 95.5 FM. Furthermore, he was invited to the Walé video shoot at Club Mirrors in Washington, D.C.
“That’s where my music comes from. The things that I’ve seen, things that I’ve been involved in, things I’ve witnessed and different experiences,” says Swagger. “It wasn’t all rough; I love where I’ve come from. It’s a horrible, beautiful place.” South East Washington D.C. never looked so beautiful.
