Straight from the streets of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area comes the Wasteland Mob, a streetwise group of G's with solid production, hard-edge lyrics and a highly energized (yet charismatic) stage performance. Wasteland consists of Q’Darrange, G-Rex, and the Cysco Kidd who all hail from the treacherous streets of Southeast Washington DC, and Draus who was raised in rugged Norfolk VA, but relocated to Alexandria VA at 18. All four homies have always held Hip Hop/Rap music close to their hearts, but when they met up it was like pieces of a puzzle coming together to create a unique, much-needed sound in the Hardcore Rap genre. Each member brings a unique contribution to the group that gives them a distinctive “live-wire” style and street credibility across their territories.
Q’Darrange is the mutual friend of all three other members, and the glue that bought the clique together. Growing up, he moved through all sectors of Washington DC, and knows the city like the back of his hand. When he and childhood friend G-Rex got together, they became a street family that could pull off any scheme. No stranger to the thug life, Darrange’s style is best described as “brute force and high-energy, mixed with finesse”.
G-Rex’s lyrical style is nothing short of a razor blade dipped in cyanide. A sharp free stylist, and a street soldier/strategist who keeps the squad focused on the big picture, Rex is a savvy hustler/entrepreneur that can sell ice cubes to a penguin in the North Pole. Even still, he has a solid work ethic that has enabled him to record over 40 songs, and is able to write on a pad, or form verses together from memory.
Cysco Kidd is the rugged soulster of the camp that brings energy to the Mob’s stage performance. The Kidd is a seasoned entertainer, who was formerly signed to Mercenary Records, a label that blazed trails in the District of Columbia. A street veteran (like the rest of the crew), Cysco brings emotion to every song and adds depth to the group’s sound.
Draus is the Wasteland Producer, Engineer, and gives a huge lyrical contribution to the Wasteland’s large catalog of music. He makes sure the beats are banging, the sound quality is right, and that the overall product is “BIG”. Draus (aka “Deezy”) has worked with countless underground groups in DC, Maryland and Virginia and has rightfully dubbed himself as “The Go-To Guy”.
Currently, the Wasteland Mob has wrapped up their first studio album “Goons Gone Wild” and is in the process of promoting the independent CD before releasing it. They are currently marketing their “Street Jack CD” Mix tape as a means of promotion and adding to their street buzz in the “DMV”. They have done a number of performances (above the open-mic circuit), and have even flown to LA to record with Phambody (formerly known as Father MC.). While there are a few looks that may lead to a label situation, the group is set on making a serious mark independently, and they have the sound quality, lyrics, songs, talent, experience and street credibility to do it. The MOB is not selling themselves short. They are going to get it done, and they will do it big.
